Matiere Noire is a Paris-based creative studio leading new approaches to spacial design. Built on a network of parallel disciplines, our operation cultivates ambivalence, using observational methods to ground its intuitive impulses. Matière Noire is driven by an appetite for the undefined, the hypothetical, the intangible. Its process celebrates unexpected derivations, developing them into bespoke applications of cross-cultural collaboration.

Scenography

The scenography and light design of Courrèges’ SS’25 collection is built around the motion of waves - a sensorial interpretation of an infinite cycle. Circling back to the naturalism of past seasons, the installation is imagined by Di Felice and scenography director Rémy Brière in collaboration with Matière Noire. In the heart of Courrèges’ heritage white space, a monumental ‘Ocean Drum’ - built by Finnish artist duo Grönlund-Nisunen - recreates the soothing soundscape of waves, weaving white noise into the dissonant layers of the show’s scenography. Incased in the ceiling, a structure of white LED panels highlight the square catwalk and the geometric contrast with the jet black circle swaying in the center.
