Matière Noire is a Paris-based creative studio leading new approaches to spacial design. Built on a network of parallel disciplines, our operation cultivates ambivalence, using observational methods to ground its intuitive impulses. Matière Noire is driven by an appetite for the undefined, the hypothetical, the intangible. Its process celebrates unexpected derivations, developing them into bespoke applications of cross-cultural collaboration.

The proposal for Sacré Club’s light design expands on the meaning of the word ‘sacré’ (sacred), emphasising its mystical essence in the context of the night. Inspired by the sun's rays piercing the nave of a church, a motorized grid of mirrored panels structures the club’s ceiling. Reflected light bathes the dance floor indirectly, immersing the audience in both a kinetic and luminous experience. Through these two variables, the installation offers an infinite range of visual combinations that reveal new perspectives on the club’s architecture.
