Amsterdam-based music platform Dekmantel invites Matière Noire to the 10th edition of its festival to conceive its scenography and light design as an expression of the summer solstice. Walling the back of the main stage, cubic glass containers house analog light effects and pyrotechnics, such as fireworks and flamethrowers, combined with smoke machines and sparklers. A symphony of light translating the vibrancy of the sun; the evolutive system stages a condensed collection of vitrines that reveal the silhouettes surrounding the open stage. A grid of rails allows a motorized cluster of technical lights and smoke machines to glide above the crowd, revealing fragments of the dance-floor and the stage in a zenithal motion of colour and shadow.
