Matière Noire is a Paris-based creative studio leading new approaches to spacial design. Built on a network of parallel disciplines, our operation cultivates ambivalence, using observational methods to ground its intuitive impulses. Matière Noire is driven by an appetite for the undefined, the hypothetical, the intangible. Its process celebrates unexpected derivations, developing them into bespoke applications of cross-cultural collaboration.

Inlayed in the façade of Jacquemus’ Avenue Montaigne flagship store, and throughout its glass-front floors, an array of modernistic popcorn/ATM hybrids break the luxurious monotony of the neighbouring window displays, bringing the funfair into the high street, for the pleasure of the house’s loyal clientèle. Mimicking the brand’s geometric codes and playful ethos, the sleek machines deliver popcorn buckets to the happy few in celebration of the store’s opening.
