Set inside the Palais Brongniart, once the beating heart of the Paris stock exchange, the runway show reaches into the architecture's own history of wealth, secret circles and corruption - a setting where the language of the cult and the vocabulary of capital become interchangeable.
Matiere Noire's scenography reads the couple at the centre of the collection through this duality: two forces orbiting the same occult centre of gravity. A single disc is lowered in three successive states, tracing the phases of an eclipse until it comes to rest as a perfect black circle on the ground. The light accompanying its descent is deliberately tragic - a cold, dying sun presiding over an environment built for the one world in which nobody survives, except those it was created by.
