Matière Noire is a Paris-based creative studio leading new approaches to spacial design. Built on a network of parallel disciplines, our operation cultivates ambivalence, using observational methods to ground its intuitive impulses. Matière Noire is driven by an appetite for the undefined, the hypothetical, the intangible. Its process celebrates unexpected derivations, developing them into bespoke applications of cross-cultural collaboration.

Scenography
Moncler celebrates its 70th anniversary in London during the Frieze Art Fair, taking visitors on an immersive journey that draws on the sights, sounds and smells of the mountains. A travelling scenography (New York - Seoul - New York - Tokyo), the exhibition recreates the feeling of being in the mountains through 360-degree imagery, sound design, olfactory effects that mimic sensations of snow and fog. Visitors begin their "expedition" in a white void that Moncler likens to a basecamp, before journeying into the exhibition's three key sections, titled Extraordinary Experience, Extraordinary Moments and Extraordinary Designs. Extraordinary Experience is an introduction to the brand through a CGI-rich film that is projected on all four walls of the space and a 3D topographic centrepiece. Extraordinary Moments explores key garments and artefacts from Moncler's history via seven "Archive Boxes" containing a collection of historic brand ‘artefacts’.
