Matière Noire is a Paris-based creative studio leading new approaches to spacial design. Built on a network of parallel disciplines, our operation cultivates ambivalence, using observational methods to ground its intuitive impulses. Matière Noire is driven by an appetite for the undefined, the hypothetical, the intangible. Its process celebrates unexpected derivations, developing them into bespoke applications of cross-cultural collaboration.

Scenography
A formal reaction to the futuristic atmosphere of Neimeyer’s architecture, the scenography of Kaleidoscope’s ‘Manifesto’ festival plays off organic shapes that can be molded to the multi-disciplinary needs of the event. In an arena where fine art, printed materials, fashion, and live performances coexist, the conception of modular structures that can be appropriated by each exhibitor is inevitable. These scenographic installations are articulated like exoskeletons with translucent lycra skin stretched over lightweight aluminum structures that act simultaneously as a flat surface that can be printed on, and 3-dimensional displays that can accommodate an infinite array of objects.
