The set and light design of Mugler’s SS’24 runway are built around the cinematic framework that has come to define the brand’s high-voltage videos under the helm of creative director, Casey Cadwallader. On a snow-white runway, meticulously lined with mechanical fans, the brand unleashes an aquarium of muses, 7m-long chiffon trains rippling tentacle-like behind them. A bespoke lighting system frames the passing silhouettes, its synchronised motion echoing the thrilling soundtrack of house composer, Total Freedom. The extreme interactions of light, wind and fabric create a dramatic backdrop for director duo Torso’s live-action filming of the event.
