Matiere Noire is a Paris-based creative studio leading new approaches to spatial design. Built on a network of parallel disciplines, our operation cultivates ambivalence, using observational methods to ground its intuitive impulses. Matiere Noire is driven by an appetite for the undefined, the hypothetical, the intangible. Its process celebrates unexpected derivations, developing them into bespoke applications of cross-cultural collaboration.

Directed by TORSO as the short film accompanying Madonna's fifteenth studio album, Confessions II – The Film follows the artist through a series of segments built around the collision of visibility and connection in the digital age. For Bring Your Love, Matiere Noire stages a nightclub sequence flooded with smoke, in which a SWAT team loses Madonna in the crowd as she performs the song alongside Sabrina Carpenter. Towering stadium rigs of light stand in for architecture, casting the room as a rave imagined rather than remembered - two opposing crews collide within it, flares igniting like beacons across the haze. Every beam is pitched to hold the ambiguity between memory and fantasy, staging the film's central tension: the pull of being seen against the deeper value of being together.
