Matiere Noire is a Paris-based creative studio leading new approaches to spacial design. Built on a network of parallel disciplines, our operation cultivates ambivalence, using observational methods to ground its intuitive impulses. Matière Noire is driven by an appetite for the undefined, the hypothetical, the intangible. Its process celebrates unexpected derivations, developing them into bespoke applications of cross-cultural collaboration.

Scenography
Within Pavillon Cambon's neo-classic grandeur, a centralised system disrupts the expected flow : a motorized screen hovers over the runway like a luminescent phantom. This ‘mechanical spine’ serves as both revealer and concealer, its movements choreographed to unveil peripheral details. The screen operates as a lens through which Yamamoto’s deconstructed poetry and Adidas' technical precision converge. Ambient lighting follows the machine’s trajectory, casting shifting shadows that transform the venue into a dynamic stage. Fragments of film - flashes of pattern-cutting, glimpses of athletic prowess - mesh brand DNA with physical experience. The lighting design uses subtle gradients and directional beams to guide the eye through each metamorphosis.
